Class Gives Back to Our Aima Mater

Heights High's Great Give Back Program provides funding for strategic priorities that help kids thrive. Thanks in part to a gift made on behalf of the whole class by the reunion committee, our class was awarded first prize in January 2022. Details can be found on the Heights High Foundation website.

80th Birthday Party, July 7, 2018

Our birthday party was held at the Winking Lizard. We had the opportunity to catch up with the latest from the 50 classmates and 32 guests who attended. Classmates traveled from as far away as the East Coast and the West Coast. A buffet dinner was served and everyone enjoyed the evening. We are looking forward to our 85th birthday celebration in 2023. See the photos in our scrapbook.

60th Reunion Recap

Events were held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 5-7, 2016. Friday, a dessert reception was attended by 46 classmates and 23 guests. The homemade goodies were delicious. More important we had the opportunity to renew old acquaintances.

The Saturday dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant included Italian favorites served family style. One of the highlights was the very entertaining and innovative repertoire sung by a chorus of our classmates. Sixty classmates and 37 guests attended. They came from three countries and 12 states. We expect to publish over a hundred photos from the reunion in the scrapbook section of this website. Expect to see those in late September.

Sunday brunch at Carole Hershey Walter's house was a superb ending to the weekend. Good food and a chance to say goodbye to our classmates until the next event which might be the 80th birthday party.

For those that didn't make it to the reunion, please see the handout that was provided to the attendees.

60th Reunion Videos

Our class always had the ability to create and present entertaining and pertinent skits. The 60th reunion was no exception. The chorus comprises Spring Condoyon, Elaine Katz Rembrandt, Lois Ginsberg Simon, Sharon Miller Eichenbaum and Fred Eichenbaum. Captured on video, the You Tube links are below.

Before the skits began, Nancy Marks Kitay was honored for her indefatigable efforts in making the reunion the success that it was. "Kudos to Nancy".

"Growing Up and Old" is a comical and poignant musical by the chorus. The story starts in Grade 9A and ends with the ailments and medications that most of us are familiar with 64 years later.
Heights High has undergone a complete restoration in the last three years. The chorus puts the details to song in this entertaining skit: "Heights High Redo".

No reunion would be complete without a treatise on the "Good Old Days". Spring Condoyon's presentation hit all of the right elements.
The skits ended with the chorus leading the class in singing the "Alma Matter". If you don't remember the words, check the handout here.

Thank You Note Says It All

Leslie McIntyre Hawinkinson sent a thank you note to Nancy Marks Kitay. It sums up the feelings of those that attended the reunion. Click on the image to see the full note.

Heights High Redo

Our favorite high school was built in 1926 with a few additions since. A $78.8 million renovation project began in 2014 and the completed school will be reoccupied in the fall of 2017.

The high school is completely renovated, with historical aspects of the building retained, such as the clock tower, the School District's legacy logo. However, the building will be modernized for 21st century learning. Musical, performing, and visual arts will have new spaces, and student athletes and physical education classes will be able to use state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including a community-accessible swimming pool. The rendering shows the new building.

The building's original 1926 entrance, facade and courtyard are restored. Workers tore down the front science wing to make the courtyard visible from Cedar Road and expanded the third floor to make room for new science classrooms and labs.

It was attended by 90 people including 55 classmates. Mort Biel, our history teacher, and his lovely wife Claire were also there. The party was at the Winking Lizard party room in Bedford Heights. The DJ played 50s music and some people actually danced, but most listened and occasionally sang along. See the great photos in the scrapbook.

Decorations were black and gold balloons (of course). We had a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to ourselves! Carole Hershey Walters was the contact person and banker. Edie Goldstein did the name tags (so we could remember who was who/whom). Sue Rein Bailys, Judy Fierstein Simkow and Talu Gilden Glauber were the liaison people who worked with the Winking Lizard to facilitate the decisions that the whole committee voted on to serve. Bev Perry Pollack did the decorations. Classmates came from California, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Nashville, Columbus, Chicago, Boston and the East and West sides of Cleveland.

A good time was had by all. We are looking forward to our 60th reunion which will be in 2016!

70th Birthday Party

A class birthday party to celebrate everyone's 70th took place Saturday June 28, 2008, at Landerhaven, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. View the photos in the scrapbook.

50th Reunion - June 23-25, 2006

Our 50th reunion open house was attended by over 130 classmates and their guests on Friday night. It was a memorable event for renewing acquaintances and friendships. Lots of photos in the scrapbook.

Over 150 classmates and guests attended the Saturday night dinner-dance held at the Beachwood Marriott. Tunes from the 50's provided the background for extensive socializing and dancing. The Memory Book, distributed to everyone, supplied insight into what classmates have been doing for the past 50 years. We have been a busy, creative and productive bunch. Awards were made to the individuals with the most grandchildren (13) and the fewest years since their first marriage (30). The entertaining and well performed skit opened a window into the world of 50 years ago.
